Comprehensive Exam
Comprehensive Exam
Your assessment includes a look at your teeth, gums, tissues, bite, and the overall function and esthetics of your smile. We then combine this with your personal dental goals to come up with a plan for caring for your smile.
Our mouths are the gateway to the rest of our bodies. The health of our mouth is an indication of the health of the rest of our body. By scheduling regular dental exams, we can assess and identify the health of your mouth, and catch dental health problems in early stages.
Preventative dentistry is the best way to maintain your dental health as well as keep the costs of dental treatment at a minimum. Preventative or minor restorative treatments are less costly and time consuming than major dental therapy.
Dental Hygiene Therapy (Cleaning)
Dental Hygiene Therapy (Cleaning)
Your gum health is critical to maintaining the health of your teeth and the health of your body overall. Our dental hygienists diagnose your level of periodontal health and treat your individual needs through their periodontal assessment, personalized cleaning and oral care advice.
Our mouths are home to hundreds of millions of bacterial, viruses, and fungi (microbes). There are over 700 different species! This diverse ecosystem needs to be maintained in a state of balance to achieve dental health. Dental cleanings help to reduce imbalances of microbial build-up, improving the health of your teeth, gums, and mouth overall.
How many appointments will I need for my dental cleaning?
This is different for each person. The amount of time and exact technique required for your cleaning will depend on the presence and progression of plaque and tartar buildup and periodontal disease. Your hygienist will give you an idea of your oral health state and the amount of time necessary to thoroughly clean your teeth.
Generally, patients on a regular dental checkup and hygiene schedule in our office are on a maintenance program and require a predictable amount of time for their cleanings.
Diagnostic Imaging / Dental X-rays
Diagnostic Imaging / Dental X-rays
We understand our patient’s mindfulness of radiation exposure. Our digital imaging is safe and low-dose. We only take the images that are necessary for us to complete a comprehensive exam. These images show us critical information not visible by simply looking in your mouth.
Our digital dental x-rays utilize low-dose radiation that produce high-quality images in seconds. These images allow our dental professionals to assess regions in your mouth, such as the areas between your teeth. This assessment allows us to identify issues such as:
- Decay (cavities) present between the teeth
- Health of the bone supporting teeth
- Dental infections
- Pathology/anomalies within the jaw bone
Preventative Dentistry
Preventative Dentistry
This approach to dentistry enables patients to make the best decisions for their dental health while being proactive about dental health concerns. When dental issues are identified early on, they can be treated in minimally invasive, cost-effective ways. Patients who see the dentist regularly can mitigate the need for major restorative treatment and the advancement of dental disease.
We understand that maintaining dental health and esthetics is important to many of our patients. We also know that dental health is imperative for overall health. By keeping your mouth healthy, you are taking a step toward maintaining your overall health.
Some minimally invasive treatments that can be offered include:
- Replicating your natural tooth structure with biocompatible materials
- Preventing bacterial build up that can lead to dental diseases
- Nutrition and lifestyle advice that can promote oral health
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry enhances the look of your smile and your confidence in it. Though cosmetic dentistry addresses the appearance of your smile, a number of important considerations, including your chewing function, speech, and gum health, have to be assessed before cosmetic work is undertaken.
It is important that you are satisfied with your final result, so communication about your expectations and goals is critical. It is our job to form an open dialogue with you to help you achieve the results you are hoping for.
Though veneers are commonly associated with cosmetic dentistry, there are a number of procedures, some less invasive, that can be undertaken to improve cosmetic results. The range of options that would be ideal for your particular mouth and smile expectations will be presented to develop a plan that satisfies your goals.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening
Looking to brighten your smile?
With our customized, at-home, professional whitening kits, you have control of your whitening regimen.
What is the process for whitening?
The first step to whitening is to ensure the health of your teeth and gums prior to the use of a bleaching agent. This requires a comprehensive dental exam.
If dental decay or periodontal disease is present, these health problems must be treated prior to beginning the whitening process.
Once your mouth is in an optimal state of health, we can make customized whitening trays for you to use at home to achieve a brighter smile.
Restorative Dentistry
Restorative Dentistry
From tooth-colored fillings to veneers to crowns to bridges to dental implants, there are a number of ways to restore your teeth and smile. All the materials we use at Ascent Dental Care are biocompatible and are chosen based on your particular restorative needs.
The restorative materials used in our office range from composite resins to ceramic crowns or veneers. The best restoration type for your specific needs will be proposed, and the most appropriate material for functional and esthetic purposes will be chosen.
Biocompatible Materials
At Ascent Dental Care, we integrate advances in dentistry with biocompatible solutions. This ensures that we:
- Maintain the innate integrity of the mouth and body
- Consider longevity of restorations
- Restore function and esthetics
The therapies that are provided for your restorative needs can have a direct impact on your overall health. We take this in to consideration with all of our treatments and aim to create a healthy, balanced state in your mouth with the materials we recommend.
Family Dentistry
Family Dentistry
Growing families have growing dental needs. We are here to provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere for our littlest patients and their parents! The best prevention is developing good habits. Promoting comfort and familiarity with the dental office in kids is one of the best ways to maintain good dental habits. We can identify dental problems in the early stages which ultimately, requires less invasive treatments.
A child’s first visit will focus on getting them used to being in a dental setting. There are lots of ways to interact with the dental team and the operatory, from taking a ride in the dental chair to playing with the air/water device, kids can get a tactile experience of the dental office to gain comfort before having any treatment done.
Dental Implants
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a permanent prosthetic, placed in to the jaw bone, to mimic the structure of a tooth root and crown. Dental implants are an excellent way to restore the function and esthetics of lost teeth.
Dental implants require adequate imaging and planning for the best outcome. The first step to determining if an area of the mouth is suitable for implant placement is an implant consultation. You will be able to discuss your goals for your mouth and smile. You will also receive information about the process of implant placement, the timeline, cost, and other considerations.
In order to begin the process of dental implant placement, a three-dimensional image called a CBCT will be taken in our office. This image provides vital information about the bone and surrounding structures of the implant site and will be used for planning your implant surgery.
